Responsibilities
- Define and own the long-term industrial design vision and strategy.
- Collaborate with leadership across Product, Hardware Engineering, UXR, and Operations.
- Articulate and evolve the physical product design language for Waymo's hardware.
- Lead the ID team to execute the program timeline and design integration.
- Influence CMF and manufacturing strategies with operations and global suppliers.
- Champion design excellence and mentor other designers.
- Develop cohesive design language to enhance user experience and product quality.
Job Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on design experience in automotive OEM design studios.
- Proven track record of leading complex hardware products from concept to mass production.
- Exceptional 2D and 3D design skills, including CAD and prototyping techniques.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for influencing senior leadership.
- A world-class portfolio showcasing strategic design thinking and attention to detail.
- Degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or related field.
- Preferred experience in multiple automotive OEMs and knowledge of high-volume manufacturing processes.
