Responsibilities
- Lead the industrial design process from concept to production, defining scope and execution plans.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, UX Research, and Operations to translate user needs into hardware solutions.
- Develop production-intent design concepts using 2D sketching, 3D CAD modeling, and prototypes.
- Oversee the transition from design to manufacturing, ensuring quality and design intent.
- Define and champion the hardware strategy to align with Waymo's brand and user experience goals.
Job Requirements
- 5+ years of professional industrial design experience in automotive environments, focusing on vehicle interior design.
- Proven experience in shipping complex products from concept to mass production.
- Exceptional 2D and 3D design skills, including mastery of CAD software.
- Strong visual and verbal communication skills for presenting design narratives.
- A strong portfolio showcasing vehicle interior designs and design-thinking skills.
- Degree in Industrial Design, Transportation, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred experience in designing for complex hardware systems or robotics.
