Responsibilities
- Characterize PV cells and materials, including testing and analysis.
- Model and test environmental impacts on cell performance.
- Specify and evaluate materials for solar array components.
- Develop designs to minimize loss and improve efficiency.
- Define protocols for supplier screening and acceptance.
- Design experiments and analyze data to publish design rules.
- Mentor junior researchers and maintain lab best practices.
Job Requirements
- PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Materials Science with 8+ years of experience, or MS with 10+ years in PV device research.
- Expertise in photovoltaic testing and analysis methods.
- Experience with environmental testing and modeling for space applications.
- Knowledge of materials compatibility and design for solar arrays.
- Ability to design experiments and manage data analysis.
- Strong collaboration skills with manufacturing teams.
- Preferred: Publication record in space photovoltaics and leadership experience in research projects.
