About this Opportunity:

This position performs MIG and TIG welds throughout ranges of material gages, alloys and positions. 

Level 2 will also need to be able to solder and braze from mild steel to copper, along with drilling and tapping when needed. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Consistently fabricates and welds customer products within customer specifications with little to no defects. 
  • Requires to drill and tap as needed. 
  • Develop and build advanced weld fixturing. 
  • Ability to read and follow weld maps as required 
  • Creates prototype parts off of customer blueprints or schematics within customer tolerances. 
  • Utilizes clamps and porta power to bend and manipulate parts to bring them within tolerances. 
  • Demonstrates through testing on 2-inch plate, the ability to gouge and bevel with air arc, then perform a full penetration weld on both sides. 
  • Demonstrates ability to make weld repairs on parts and weldments without disrupting existing dimensions. 
  • Makes sound MIG and TIG weld repairs across all product ranges. 
  • Ability to set up and operate rolling machinery. 
  • Ability to set up and operate an ironworker to notch, bend or straighten: parts, pieces or fixturing. 
  • Ability to weld holes up to 4-inches deep. 
  • Can obtain D 1.6 certification as needed. 

Requirements

  •  Two and a half years of sheet metal experience is required of which two years must have been MIG and or TIG welding.
  •  Requires the ability to read and understand written documents.
  •  Read and comprehend basic blueprints.
  •  Use of basic weld fixtures.
  •  Basic arithmetic such as addition and subtraction.
  •  The ability to straighten welded parts.
  •  Use of dial calipers, vernier calipers, protractors, squares and other measuring instruments as required.
  •  Most assigned tasks for this position may involve “Medium Work”, however some may involve “Heavy Work” as defined below. The hiring authority may review the applicant’s physical ability based on the specific tasks to be assigned.
  1.  Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  2.  Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
