A&P Mechanic
Swarm Aero is redefining air power, building the largest swarming UAV and the most versatile swarming aircraft network in the world. The company is moving quickly to launch the first aircraft designed specifically for swarming, as well as the Command & Control software to mobilize swarms of thousands of heterogeneous autonomous assets and empower human operators to achieve superhuman results.
The team has created and exited multiple startups, negotiated defense deals worth billions of dollars, and designed and built 30+ novel aircraft, with aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic.
Our aircraft are built fast, and every prototype starts on the shop floor. We need an A&P mechanic who wants to build aircraft, not just service them, working side by side with our structures, propulsion, electrical, and autonomy engineers to turn designs into real hardware while the design is still taking shape.
What You'll Do
Build, assemble, and integrate prototype unmanned aircraft from drawings and work instructions that are still evolving
Fabricate and install systems including fuel and oil plumbing, landing gear, flight controls, avionics, and electrical
Fabricate and repair composites (wet layup, prepreg, honeycomb, bonded structure)
Work side by side with engineering to troubleshoot issues, root-cause problems, and feed shop-floor knowledge back into the design
Support ground and flight test, including pre- and post-flight inspections and vehicle mods
Keep build records and configuration docs, and help write procedures as we move toward production
Train and mentor junior technicians, and help set up the facility
Travel to flight test and field sites as needed
What We're Looking For
FAA A&P certificate
7+ years of hands-on experience across multiple aircraft types, systems, and structures
Experience building or modifying aircraft, not just maintaining them
Composite fabrication and repair experience
Experience fabricating tubing, hoses, and metallic structures
Comfortable with changing drawings and willing to speak up when something looks off
Able to lift 50 lbs, work indoors and outdoors, and travel to support flight campaigns
Candidates for this position must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
Nice to Have
Prototype, experimental, or R&D aircraft experience
Ground and flight test support
Build documentation and configuration management on developmental programs
Active security clearance
ITAR requirement
To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
