Responsibilities The Position: Responsible for designing, sustaining, testing, and releasing core IFE hardware LRUs with an emphasis of power electronics / power supply product line. Participate in technical review board meetings to assist in product design, test and delivery activities. Responsible for meeting schedules and problem resolution. Work with all organizations within Engineering, Marketing, Product Planning and Quality to meet company commitments. Responsible for providing support and guidance to other engineers in the overall design of LRUs (Line Replaceable Unit) which may include sustaining, design & development, layout, analysis, evaluation, prototype build, and testing of mechanical, electronic, and electromechanical components and systems. Perform sustaining, design, development and planning with 3rd party vendor(s) including layout, analysis, evaluation, prototype build and testing of mechanical, electronic, and electromechanical components and systems. Perform qualitative and quantitative tests to determine properties, characteristics, and performance of materials, circuits, mechanisms, assemblies and systems. Record and analyze test data. Select hardware and material assuring compliance with specifications and product requirements. Verify embedded firmware and higher-level software functionality of the product. Apply standard mathematical and hands-on techniques, procedures and criteria to engineering assignments. Follow all departmental QOP and WI processes to ensure all documentation is generated, completed and released in a timely manner. Guide and mentor the work of lower-level engineers, designers, and support personnel as assigned. Provides technical direction to members of assigned work teams. Product Design/Development and Requirements Analysis Participate with members of management in the design and development of products and analysis of customer requirements. Assist in the determination of a problem solution while considering form, fit, function, weight, product ability, manufacturing, product marketing and cost. Help lead the coordination efforts and activities between Manufacturing, Obsolescence, Product Planning and Material Planning departments for the selection and ordering of parts, materials, components, or processes with vendors and suppliers. Communicate and sustain the development and design of the hardware with overseas manufacturing division to ensure product manufacturability. Work with the respective Project Manager, or when required independently, to generate and update Design and Development schedules. Provide technical consulting to peers or immediate management. The salary range of $100,000 – $167,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. Qualifications Ability to work in a diverse, fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Strong technical knowledge of the power supply topologies, inverter, converter and power electronics (single phase and three phases). Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are required to meet design and qualification requirements. Highly proficient in project planning while addressing external/internal dependencies and associated logistics across multiple functions. Advanced ability to design, analyze circuits and equipment using conventional and computerized techniques. Advanced ability to develop and implement test methods and procedures. Advanced skill level in preparing technical reports and documentation for submission to management. Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s). Knowledge of Aerospace / OEM change or configuration management with a product life cycle Communication Excellent written and verbal skills with a proactive attitude. Ability to effectively communicate between several departments within the organization. Outstanding communication skills and demonstrated ability in developing and delivering complex business and technical presentations for senior management. BS in Electrical Engineering required followed by an MS in Electrical Engineering preferred. This includes some knowledge of FAA or equivalent regulated industry requirements. 5-10 years’ experience in areas such as higher mathematics, electronics, mechanics and circuit design.
