Responsibilities https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tMgKm_71qs (by clicking this link you are being referred to an external site that is not part of Panasonic) What You’ll Do The Emergency Management Intern supports the KS Emergency Manager and Emergency Management team with the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the all-hazards Emergency Management Program for Kansas facilities. This internship provides practical experience in emergency preparedness, planning, training and exercises, risk assessment, incident documentation, business continuity, and cross-functional coordination. The intern will work under the direction of Emergency Management staff and may support the emergency manager, business continuity, security, and other relevant internal stakeholder activities within the scope of assigned training and supervision. Essential Duties: Emergency Management Program & Preparedness Support the maintenance and organization of Emergency Management plans, procedures, checklists, job aids, contact lists, and related program documentation. Assist with all-hazards preparedness activities for severe weather, hazardous materials, utility or infrastructure disruptions, evacuation, shelter-in-place, and other facility emergencies. Participate in preparedness meetings, briefings, planning sessions, and continuous-improvement projects. Assist with tracking program actions, metrics, deadlines, and improvement items. Incident Management & Emergency Response Support Provide administrative, planning, documentation, and coordination support during incidents, drills, or activations as assigned and under supervision. Assist with situation status tracking, incident logs, resource information, notifications, documentation, and after-action follow-up. Observe and learn how Emergency Management coordinates with internal departments and external public safety and emergency management partners. Assist with post-incident documentation, lessons learned, and corrective-action tracking. Cross-Functional, External & Business Continuity Coordination Support coordination among Emergency Management, SOC, Security, Operations, Facilities, Safety/OHS, vendors, contractors, and facility stakeholders. Assist with preparedness coordination and facility familiarization activities involving local emergency management, EMS, law enforcement, and other public safety partners as assigned. Support business continuity and recovery planning by documenting critical operations, dependencies, resource needs, recovery priorities, and lessons learned. Attend meetings and coordination activities as assigned and prepare notes, action items, or follow-up materials. Administrative Responsibilities Maintain organized electronic records for plans, training, exercises, incidents, meeting notes, program metrics, and corrective actions. Assist with Emergency Management presentations, reports, spreadsheets, checklists, surveys, and other program materials. Perform research, data entry, document review, and other project support to advance Emergency Management initiatives. Perform other Emergency Management duties and learning assignments as appropriate for an internship. Internship Details: The program will be a fulltime paid summer internship working for Panasonic Energy at the Gigafactory. The program will be 12 weeks in length, and is planned to occur between Monday, May 17 and Friday, August 6, 2027. This date range is subject to change. Must be able to attend the entirety of the internship. Program Requirements: The program will be a full time paid summer internship working for Panasonic Energy onsite at the Gigafactory Must attend entirety of internship from the indicated start and end date noted above Minimum 3.2 GPA Must have completed a minimum of 2 years at an accredited university Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis at the time the internship begins and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, O-1, TN, L-1, or other employment-based visas) to participate in the program or for a fulltime role after graduation. This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements: To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. Qualifications What You'll Bring Education: Completion of at least two years of full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Public Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Business Continuity, Public Administration, or a related field. Essential Qualifications: Interest in Emergency Management, preparedness, business continuity, public safety, or organizational resilience. Strong written and verbal communication, organization, attention to detail, professionalism, collaboration, and customer-service skills. Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, ask appropriate questions, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Ability to handle emergency-related or sensitive information with appropriate discretion. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications such as Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, or the ability to learn them quickly. Preferred Qualifications: Preferred knowledge of: FEMA IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800. Additional FEMA Independent Study or exercise-related coursework is a plus. Previous internship, volunteer, academic, or work experience related to Emergency Management, public safety, safety, continuity, security, or operations. Familiarity with the Incident Command System (ICS), National Incident Management System (NIMS), emergency planning, or Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) concepts. Experience preparing reports, presentations, data trackers, maps, exercises, or research projects.
