Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Supplier Quality Engineer to join our Tactical Fighters team at the Baltimore location.

Our Supplier Quality Engineers develop and implement supplier quality evaluation and control systems. They assure supplier process and product quality, including contractual, regulatory, and technical compliance. They interface directly with supplier personnel and must be knowledgeable in and capable of assessing both supplier quality and manufacturing processes and procedures. They conduct product and process verification activities, monitor supplier quality performance, and drive root cause corrective action analysis for supplier quality issues.

This position will be required to work a 9/80 schedule with an estimated 25-50% of travel. This position is 100% onsite at of our Baltimore/Linthicum, MD facility and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

Responsible for Supplier Quality risk management and other duties to include:

Engage with Program, Engineering, Mission Assurance and Factory Cells to aid in resolving supplier-related issues impacting manufacturing.

Document, track and report on all potential Supplier product or process non-conformances. Collaborate with other program SQEs and management to escalate Supplier non-conformances that may have a critical impact on multiple programs.  

Develop and execute path to closure plans for non-conforming material in partnership with GSC, Mission Assurance and Engineering.

Support the maintenance of the approved supplier list and periodically review supplier performance to determine whether suppliers should remain on the approved list.

Manage supplier requests for waivers, deviations and discrepancy reporting process.

Keep management apprised of supplier performance, quality status, and risks.

Collaborate to develop and execute Supplier Management Plans

Serve as a lead for suppler product readiness reviews, and other similar assessments, as needed. Position requires collaboration with other functions (Supply Chain, Engineering, Mission Assurance and Manufacturing) to ensure quality standards are in place.

Actively engage in supplier evaluation, qualification and selection as part of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP) and as new procurements are required on existing programs.

Engage in risk assessment actions and data mining activities to identify continuous improvement opportunities across the supply base.

Analyze and interpret data to identify suppliers’ process issues. Engage with Program, Mission Assurance and GSC teams to identify the right audits to be conducted.

Experience analyzing, interpretating and communicating data, creating Power Point slides according to its audience and present to all levels of leadership.

Experience with Tableau dashboards and SAP.

Basic Qualifications for the Principal/3:

Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing, quality and/or engineering role or a Masters degree with a minimum of 3 years in a manufacturing, quality and/or engineering role.

Willing to travel up to 50%

Ability to obtain and maintain a government secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience facilitating Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities.

Experience in micro-electronics or printed circuit board manufacturing.

Defense industry experience, including interfacing with suppliers.

Experience in a quality, supplier quality role.

SAP Business System experience.

Experience with ISO 9001 / AS9100 Quality Management System certification processes.

Basic Qualifications for the Sr/level 4:

Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 8 years of experience in a manufacturing, quality and/or engineering role or a Masters degree with 6 years of experience  in a manufacturing, quality and/or engineering role.

Willing to travel up to 50%

Ability to obtain and maintain a government secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

 Experience facilitating Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities.

Experience in micro-electronics or printed circuit board manufacturing.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 - $148,300.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $123,400.00 - $185,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
