Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Mechanical Technician  – Level 4 to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA.      

This position performs a variety of duties assisting mechanical engineers in the development of mechanical and electromechanical engineering designs, tests, fabrications, modifications, assemblies and components. Drafts detailed drawings for fabrication. Devices, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Handling delicate flight hardware using proper ESD and contamination control best practice.

  • Performs mechanical assembly using space flight drawings and process documents.

  • Performs space flight bonding operations using various adhesives for thermal, electrical, and mechanical connections on complex composite and structural assemblies.

  • Perform assembly tasks using specific process requirements (bonding, drilling, torquing, etc) to support daily assignments.

  • Utilizes calibrated tools and shelf-life materials to perform assembly operations.

  • Other duties as assigned

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience.   

  • Requires ability to obtain and maintain SCI access

  • Knowledge and experience with mechanical assembly and operations using at least one of the following: Blueprints, engineering drawings, or written instructions.

  • Experience working with space craft composite structures and performing fabrication tasks. (Drilling, bonding, abrading, etc....)

  • Experience using MS office tools and other software.

  • Ability to work in high bays and cleanrooms.

  • Must have ability to lift up to 50lbs.

  • Ability to work off hours and weekends when needed.

  • Ability to travel, as necessary

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in integration and test.

  • Active In-Scope SCI clearance access.  

  • Experience working on complex composite flight hardware.

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,100.00 - $131,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
