to work at its
Elkton, Maryland
facility.Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C)
facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Job Responsibilities:
- Set-up and operating CNC and conventional machine shop equipment
- Ability to use lathes and mills to produce parts per drawing and/or written technical specifications
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Willing to work with explosives
Basic Requirements – Machinist level 2
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a machine shop
- Must have the ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, GD & T, and other engineering specifications
- Must have working knowledge of shop floor mathematics and measuring tools/equipment
- Ability to set-up and operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders
- Ability to set-up, program and operate CNC machines. Preferably Mazak and Proto Trak
- Must be able to use basic hand tool and precision measuring instrument
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Candidate must have a willingness to learn and possess a positive team working attitude
- Excellent communication, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work safely and concern for the safety of others
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisite
Preferred Skills:
- Associates Degree
- Ability to program and set-up Mazak lathes and mills
- Experience with Proto-Trak lathes and mills
- Experience with EDM equipment
- Explosive training
This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location. Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor.
