Senior Electrical Industrial Controls Engineer
About Mytra: We’re creating an entirely new way to solve the most ubiquitous problem in industry - moving and storing material. We’re applying robotics and distributed software to create a new class of product for this $1T market. We’re focused on the supply chain industry first. The industry is in a massive bind with the continued growth of e-commerce, sharp rise in costs, and supply chain disruptions. What has been a “sleepy” industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.
About the role:
Mytra is looking for a
Senior Electrical Controls Engineer to design and develop the electrical control systems for our next generation of robotic factory automation. This role will own electrical designs from system architecture and component selection through panel design, prototype bring-up, system integration, and production.
You will work closely with electrical, mechanical, firmware, controls, safety, manufacturing, and test engineers to develop robust, scalable electrical systems that can move from prototype into production. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working across the full system—from electrical schematics and control panels to wiring, sensors, motor drives, embedded controls, PLCs, and debugging the machine on the floor.
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone who can own the electrical system rather than just a portion of the design. You should be comfortable moving between architecture discussions, electrical CAD, component selection, control-panel design, and hands-on debugging.
The ideal candidate has shipped automated equipment or robotic systems and understands the difference between getting a prototype working and developing a production-ready system. You should be comfortable working in a fast-moving environment, making engineering tradeoffs, and collaborating closely with engineers and technicians across the organization.
We are looking for an electrical engineer who can own the system from architecture through production and has strong hands-on experience with industrial automation, control panels, PLCs, and robotic systems.
What you’ll do:
Lead the electrical architecture and design of automated systems within the pallet structural system
Design industrial electrical control panels, including power distribution, controls, I/O, safety systems, and machine interfaces
Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, cable schedules, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation
Work closely with safety engineers to support industrial functional safety controls
Select and specify
PLCs, remote I/O, industrial PCs, motor/servo drives, power supplies, circuit protection, relays, contactors, sensors, and other electrical components
Develop PLC and machine-control architectures, including I/O definitions and interfaces between electrical, controls, firmware, and mechanical systems
Design AC/DC power distribution and 24VDC control systems, including appropriate circuit protection and power management
Design and integrate motors, servo systems, actuators, sensors, encoders, safety devices, and other machine-level electrical components
Develop machine safety circuits including E-stops, safety relays/PLCs, interlocks, light curtains, and other protective devices
Develop and maintain standardized, modular electrical architectures that can be reused across multiple robotic systems
Work with mechanical engineers on electrical enclosure, panel, cable routing, connector, harness, and machine integration requirements
Build and bring up prototype control panels and electrical systems, troubleshoot wiring and integration issues, and support system commissioning
Work directly with technicians, manufacturing, suppliers, and panel builders to transition designs into production.
Participate in design reviews, electrical risk assessments, system validation, and root-cause analysis of electrical and system-level issues
Support factory acceptance testing, system commissioning, and deployment of robotic systems
Establish electrical engineering processes, standards, design guidelines, and best practices for Mytra's production systems
Drive electrical designs from early prototypes through production, balancing performance, reliability, cost, manufacturability, and schedule
Ideal Candidates
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
5+ years of experience designing electrical systems for industrial automation, robotics, manufacturing equipment, or complex electromechanical products
Strong experience with industrial control panel design and electrical schematics
Experience with PLC-based control systems and industrial I/O architectures
Experience selecting and integrating motor drives, servo systems, power supplies, circuit protection, relays, contactors, sensors, and safety components
Experience with electrical CAD tools for creating schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and electrical documentation
Strong understanding of AC/DC power distribution, 24VDC control systems, grounding, circuit protection, and electrical safety
Experience creating electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, BOMs, cable schedules, and manufacturing documentation
Hands-on experience bringing up, debugging, and troubleshooting automated machinery or robotic systems
Experience working with mechanical, firmware/software, controls, manufacturing, and test engineering teams
Experience taking electrical designs from prototype through production
Strong troubleshooting and system-level problem-solving skills
Nice to have:
Experience with robotics, automated material handling, or high-volume manufacturing equipment.
Experience with industrial PLC platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, or similar.
Experience with EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, CAN/CANopen, or other industrial communication protocols.
Experience with safety PLCs and industrial machine safety.
Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79, UL 508A, and related industrial electrical standards.
Experience working with contract manufacturers, panel builders, and electrical suppliers.
Experience designing systems for reliability, serviceability, and production scalability.
Experience designing and shipping robotic systems or automated equipment in a production environment.
A Final Note:
If this role excites you, we encourage you to apply — even if you don’t check every box. At Mytra, we build bots, but we hire humans. We value thoughtful challengers who communicate with clarity and respect, and we’re lifelong learners committed to getting better every day. We move fast, learn faster, and show up for each other under pressure. The best outcomes come from diverse perspectives working together to build something meaningful and built to last
