As a Senior Datacenter Program Manager - Build Metro, you will help deliver the core infrastructure behind Microsoft’s online services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Azure. The Senior Datacenter Program Manager - Build Metro leads the end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of complex datacenter construction projects ranging from $250,000 to $100 million. This role requires interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills, with expertise in datacenter operations and construction. Responsibilities include managing cross-functional teams and vendors, ensuring safety, quality, and cost-efficiency, and aligning execution with Microsoft’s data center development strategy. Responsibilities

  • Establish working relationships with all construction stakeholders
  • Attend all Metro new build, expansion and retrofit project related design, construction, and commissioning meetings
  • Serve as the liaison between Construction and Operations and escalate any issues that could cause impact
  • Participate in all Construction/Operations walk-throughs, as well as routine construction inspections during the builds
  • Coordinate and execute turnover operations, ensure turnover checklist is completed and validated, and all turnover artifacts are delivered on time
  • Document and report lessons learned from each project
  • Monitor services and KPIs, OKRs, SLAs, and OLAs and reports trends and service anomalies
  • Lead key processes, such as team and triage meetings, prioritize work across the team, and rebalance priorities to respond to changes
  • Standardize infrastructure equipment, processes, and workflows through design, construction, and turnover of these world-class facilities
  • Assist with new facility design & commissioning, coordinating installation of core network infrastructure
  • Promote a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspect of datacenter activities
  • Learn, live, and coach the One Microsoft culture and values

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Qualification or equivalent AND 6+ years experience supporting IT equipment or related technology or delivering server and network deployment projects in large-scale environments OR equivalent experience

Other Requirements: 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Technical College Degree in Computer Science, Math, Telecommunications, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field AND 12+ years experience in critical environment infrastructures (e.g., UPS, Generator, AHU), or working in physical IT infrastructures (e.g., Servers, SANs, Networking, Capacity, DC Rack/Enclosures, structured cabling) OR High School Qualification or equivalent AND 14+ years experience in critical environment infrastructures (e.g., UPS, Generator, AHU), or working in physical IT infrastructures (e.g., Servers, SANs, Networking, Capacity, DC Rack/Enclosures, structured cabling) OR equivalent experience
  • Applicable certifications: APICS/Inventory Control, CompTIA, Microsoft, Network Certifications, CCNA Certifications, ITIL v3 Foundation, Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF) Certifications

Data Center Operations Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $127,600 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $168,900 - $253,300 per year.
