PRINCIPAL ENGINEER, CONTROLLER QUALITY

Micron's Global Supplier Quality organization is seeking a Controller Quality Principal Engineer to lead the quality strategy, qualification, and continuous improvement of storage and memory controller (ASIC/SoC) manufacturers supporting Micron's SSD, embedded, and storage solutions portfolio. This is a senior technical leadership role responsible for driving controller supplier quality performance from design qualification through mass production and field support The successful candidate will collaborate across functions with ASIC Development Team, Compose Engineering, Product Engineering, Dependability, Manufacturing, and Commodity Management, as well as directly with controller IC vendors, foundries, third party reliability labs and OSAT (outsourced assembly and test) partners, to ensure controller quality, reliability, and supply continuity meet Micron's standards. This role can be based in Taiwan, Hyderabad, or San Jose and will work extensively across time zones with global partners and suppliers! Develops, evaluates, revises, and applies technical quality assurance protocols/methods to inspect and test in-process raw materials, production equipment, and finished products. Ensures activities and items are in compliance with both company quality assurance standards and applicable government regulations. Performs analysis and identifies trends in the inspection of finished products, in-process materials and bulk raw materials, and recommends corrective actions when vital. Ensures that established manufacturing inspection, sampling and statistical process control procedures are followed. May assure compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards, such as GMPs and ISO regulations. Evaluates and analyzes the efforts in prioritizing, documenting, and interpreting inspection support documents and records!

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end quality strategy for ASIC/SoC suppliers supporting Micron’s storage and memory products, from qualification through end-of-life.
• Drive supplier and controller qualification programs, including qualification planning, risk assessments, DFMEA/PFMEA reviews, and production release approvals.
• Lead root cause investigations, 8D problem solving, and CAPA activities to resolve controller-related quality, reliability, manufacturing, and field issues.
• Establish and improve supplier quality metrics, including DPPM, yield, reliability, RMA rates, and field return performance.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Test, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to assess and mitigate quality and reliability risks, while handling SCN/PCN evaluations and implementation.
• Conduct supplier audits and technical assessments across design, fabrication, assembly, and test operations, while providing technical leadership, mentoring quality engineers, and representing Global Supplier Quality in executive reviews.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field, with 12+ years of experience in semiconductor quality, supplier quality, product engineering, reliability engineering, or related areas.
• Strong expertise in semiconductor reliability methodologies, failure analysis, and statistical quality tools, including SPC, DOE, Weibull Analysis, and Six Sigma principles.
• Deep knowledge of ASIC/SoC design, wafer fabrication, assembly, test, and reliability qualification processes (HTOL, ELFR, ESD), with proven experience leading supplier qualification programs, 8D/CAPA initiatives, and collaboration with foundries, OSATs, and global semiconductor partners.

Preferred Qualifications

• Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent quality certification.
• Direct experience with SSD, NAND Flash, DRAM, or storage controller integrity, stability, and qualification methodologies.
• Working knowledge of semiconductor and automotive quality management systems, including IATF 16949, ISO 9001, AEC-Q100, and JEDEC standards.
• Experience leading global supplier quality initiatives across Asia and North America, with a proven track record to influence multi-functional teams and suppliers without direct authority, including driving quality improvements and data-driven decision-making using AI.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$170,000.00 - $289,000.00 a year

Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
