A Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations on the production floor, ensuring that manufacturing processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely. They manage a team of operators or technicians, providing leadership, training, and guidance to maintain high standards of productivity and quality. The supervisor monitors workflow, resolves issues, enforces compliance with safety regulations, and implements process improvements. Additionally, they coordinate with other departments, such as quality control and maintenance, to meet production targets and deadlines. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role, as well as the ability to motivate and support their team in a fast-paced environment.
The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations to achieve production, quality, safety, delivery, and cost objectives. This role oversees production personnel, manages resources, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures efficient execution of manufacturing activities within assigned areas.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead daily manufacturing operations to achieve production schedules, quality standards, and business objectives.
- Prioritize production activities based on product demand, equipment utilization, and material availability.
- Supervise, coach, and develop production employees to support performance, engagement, and operational effectiveness.
- Develop staffing plans, schedules, and manpower requirements to meet production commitments.
- Manage departmental resources and provide recommendations related to labor utilization and capital expenditures.
- Monitor operational metrics and implement corrective actions to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to resolve production issues and support strategic objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering and 1+ years of manufacturing experience.
- Experience leading projects, teams, or manufacturing operations.
- Experience in production planning, workforce scheduling, and resource management.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications and manufacturing data analysis tools.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing practices and continuous improvement methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment such as medical device, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industries.
- Knowledge of machining and manufacturing technologies.
- Experience managing production performance metrics and operational improvements.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
