Senior Supply Quality Engineer
Job Description
Delivering on that promise depends on the quality of every part that goes into our products. As our Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer, you make sure the components our suppliers ship meet our standards before they ever reach the line, so every home we power gets a product that lasts. This is a hands-on role spanning the full product lifecycle, from qualifying and developing suppliers through new product introduction and into sustaining quality once parts reach mass production.
Lunar Energy was founded to transition homes to 100% clean energy—making our electricity greener, our air cleaner and our energy more safe, secure and reliable for all. We’re a fast-growing, global company building the world’s best clean energy products to electrify all homes and connect communities to form clean, resilient virtual power plants.
On a given day at Lunar, you’ll likely…
- Lead containment, 8D, and corrective action (CAPA) efforts to root-cause non-conformances found in incoming inspection, on the line, and in the field
- Review supplier-driven changes, assessing deviation requests, ECRs, and process or sourcing changes for risk, and approve them with the right requalification
- Build and maintain supplier scorecards covering quality, delivery, and responsiveness, and lead business reviews that hold suppliers to their targets
- Qualify and develop suppliers of mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical components through on-site qualification audits
- Own supplier quality from new product introduction through mass production, driving the full PPAP, including the control plan, PFMEA, and first article approval
- Lead Gage R&R / MSA studies, process capability analysis (Cp/Cpk/Pp/Ppk), and SPC deployment at suppliers
- Apply strong GD&T to drawing reviews and tolerance stack-ups, confirming parts are producible and inspectable before tooling is cut
Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline
- 4–6 years of experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer, including sustaining operations and quality ownership from NPI through mass production
- Direct experience with mechanical components (sheet metal, plastic injection molding, powder-coated metal), electrical components (wire harnesses, PCBA), and electromechanical assemblies
- Strong GD&T knowledge and data analysis proficiency in JMP for capability, measurement-system, and reliability studies
- A track record of independently owning supplier programs, from on-site qualification audits through mass production approval, using data to make the call
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification
- Willingness to travel 50% of the time to domestic and international suppliers; US citizenship required
