The candidate will work closely with Mechanical Design, R&D, Supplier Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing, Compliance, and suppliers to ensure that mechanical components meet design, performance, quality, reliability, cost, and long-term availability requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Engineering and Supplier Quality to drive manufacturability into mechanical component design and selection.
- Own Component Engineering activities for mechanical components, including technical requirements, selection, qualification, lifecycle management, reliability, and engineering change assessment.
- Collaborate with R&D and Supplier Quality to drive manufacturability into mechanical component design, specifications, and selection.
- Define and review component specifications, drawings, CTQs, tolerances, and acceptance criteria to ensure robust and manufacturable designs.
- Lead technical qualification of new and alternate mechanical components, including dimensional, material, functional, environmental, and reliability validation.
- Partner with Supply Chain and Supplier Quality on alternate-source development, providing technical qualification and component risk assessment.
- Assess mechanical component performance, materials, manufacturing processes, tolerance stack-ups, and reliability risks throughout the product lifecycle.
- Evaluate PCNs, EOLs, material/process changes, and engineering changes for technical and product impact.
- Lead technical problem-solving and failure analysis for component-related issues, partnering with Supplier Quality on supplier corrective actions.
- Support R&D, Manufacturing, and Contract Manufacturers in resolving component-related design, assembly, manufacturability, and production issues.
- Establish and maintain mechanical component engineering standards, qualification requirements, and technical documentation.
