About the role The Electrical Engineer III is responsible for the design, development, testing, implementation, and continuous improvement of electrical and electronic systems, products, and equipment. This role serves as a technical resource within the engineering team, independently leading medium-to-large complexity projects while providing guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers. The Electrical Engineer III applies advanced electrical engineering principles to develop innovative solutions, troubleshoot complex technical issues, improve product performance, and support manufacturing and quality objectives. The position works with limited supervision and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Product Management, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations. Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and validate electrical, electronic, and embedded systems. Lead electrical engineering activities for new product development and product enhancements by way of phase-gate development framework. Develop analog, digital, power distribution, sensor, control, and communication circuitry. Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and technical documentation. Perform circuit simulation, prototyping, system integration, and functional testing of components and integrated systems. Analyze and resolve complex electrical and system-level issues. Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions. Research and develop prototypes to proactively address emerging trends within the Telecommunications industry. Support regulatory compliance and product certification activities including UL, FCC, CSA, TIA, ISO/IEC and other applicable standards. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) requirements. Support manufacturing processes related to assembly and test of sub-assemblies and finished goods. Evaluate and approve alternative or second-source of components. Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations. Support engineering change management and continuous improvement programs. Develop test methods, validation protocols, engineering reports and product specifications. Mentor Associate and Engineer-level team members and provide technical guidance. Interface with suppliers, customers, and external engineering partners as required. Travel occasionally to manufacturing facilities, suppliers, or customer locations. Qualifications Skills - Technical Advanced knowledge of applying analog and digital circuit design concepts to high-volume consumer electronics. Understanding of power electronics and control systems. Experience with microprocessors, embedded systems, and firmware interaction. Proficiency with ECAD tools such as Altium Designer or equivalent for schematic and layout creation. Knowledge of electrical testing equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and data acquisition systems. Understanding of EMI/EMC mitigation techniques. Experience with engineering analysis and simulation tools. Familiarity with DFMEA, PFMEA, reliability, and risk analysis methodologies. Knowledge of applicable electrical, safety, and regulatory standards. Education & Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required Minimum 4 years’ experience required Experience leading engineering projects from concept through commercialization. Experience in conceptual design, manufacturing techniques, and materials. Experience with product validation, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of consumer electronic products with technologies that are commonly found in IoT (networking, wireless, Microprocessor, digital design, etc.). Experience researching, navigating and interpreting technical standards published by international and regional standards bodies. Experience working in cross-functional project teams.
