To make electronics, you need chips, wafers, transistors, reticles, and... To make these, you must see, test and manufacture them at scale—faster and better than ever before. That's where KLA comes in. Whether you're early in your career or an experienced professional, you'll solve complex challenges, work alongside brilliant minds and help shape the future of technology.

Group/Division

KLA has manufacturing sites worldwide. The Global Operations (GOPS) team, comprised of Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Installation and Quality, builds our leading-edge technology. GOPS partners with KLA's global supply base and design engineering teams to develop new products, working continuously to build better, faster and more cost-efficient solutions.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise.

KLA is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Design Engineer to support the manufacturing, integration, and lifecycle of complex semiconductor inspection equipment. This role works closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Support, Field Service, Supply Chain, Quality, and suppliers to troubleshoot technical issues, support new product introductions and engineering changes, and improve product quality, reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer who enjoys working directly with complex hardware, solving technical problems, analyzing data, and learning how sophisticated systems are built, tested, and supported throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

    • Support the introduction, integration, qualification, and ongoing manufacturing of new and existing products.
    • Troubleshoot issues involving electrical systems, computer hardware, networking, imaging, and system integration.
    • Participate in root cause investigations and support implementation of corrective actions for manufacturing and field issues.
    • Support engineering changes, component obsolescence, replacement-part qualification, and product configuration updates.
    • Assist in developing and executing test plans, qualification requirements, and acceptance criteria.
    • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including build procedures, test instructions, troubleshooting guides, and system configuration documentation.
    • Support manufacturing test equipment, diagnostic tools, computing platforms, and related infrastructure.
    • Analyze manufacturing, test, and failure data to identify recurring issues, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Work directly with manufacturing technicians to troubleshoot equipment and resolve production issues.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and suppliers to resolve technical and manufacturing challenges.
    • Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on product quality, reliability, cost, cycle time, and serviceability.
    • Maintain accurate technical documentation and communicate findings and recommendations to engineering and manufacturing partners.

Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
    • Approximately 2 years of related engineering, manufacturing, integration, test, or technical experience.
    • Working knowledge in one or more areas such as electrical systems, computer hardware, networking, imaging systems, or electromechanical equipment.
    • Ability to perform structured troubleshooting, analyze technical problems, and clearly document findings.
    • Experience reading and interpreting technical documentation, schematics, drawings, or system documentation.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, and technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience supporting complex electromechanical equipment, semiconductor capital equipment, scientific instrumentation, automation equipment, or other technically sophisticated systems.
    • Exposure to system integration, manufacturing test, product qualification, or troubleshooting.
    • Experience supporting engineering changes, component obsolescence, replacement-part qualification, or product lifecycle activities.
    • Familiarity with root cause analysis, corrective action, 8D, or similar structured problem-solving methods.
    • Experience analyzing manufacturing or test data to identify trends and improve product performance.
    • Exposure to computer hardware, networking, imaging systems, diagnostic equipment, or automated test equipment.

Why This Role Is Exciting

You’ll have the opportunity to work directly with complex semiconductor inspection equipment and develop experience across hardware, computing, networking, imaging, manufacturing, and system integration. Rather than working on a single component, you’ll help understand how multiple technologies come together in a sophisticated system while developing valuable experience in troubleshooting, NPI, manufacturing engineering, product qualification, and lifecycle support.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelors Degree and minimum of 2 years of experience; or a Masters degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
