
Precision Cleaning Intern (Fall 2026)
Job Description
As a Precision Cleaning Intern,you will play a critical role in supporting cleanliness and contamination control processes for high-reliability components. You will work closely with manufacturing, materials, and quality engineering teams to develop, document, and refine precision cleaning methods that ensure components meet strict performance and cleanliness standards. You will contribute to process development, support build operations, and help drive continuous improvement throughout the production workflow.
The internship will run from end of August to December of 2026.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate cleanliness requirements and assist in developing precision cleaning procedures for various hardware
- Participate in process reviews to build cross‑disciplinary consensus and ensure cleaning processes meet technical needs
- Support design of cleaning methods that improve manufacturability and repeatability; collaborate with suppliers or internal teams on cleaning equipment, chemistry, or tooling
- Perform basic contamination-related analysis such as particle count, non-volatile residue measurements, and material compatibility checks
- Develop and document efficient and clear cleaning instructions; partner with technicians to refine workflows and improve process reliability
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- Hands‑on familiarity with basic mechanical or laboratory tools
- Understanding of contamination control principles, including particulate and non-volatile residue cleanliness
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining and their impact on downstream cleaning operations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and learn new skills
- Ability to communicate technical challenges, explain rationale and/or resolve concerns
