
Avionics Manufacturing Engineer (All levels)
Job Description
We are looking for an Avionics Manufacturing Engineer who will own Helios avionics as a product in the manufacturing organization.
Helios is the kick stage transforming access to MEO, GEO, Cislunar, and beyond. Paired with a medium-lift launch vehicle, Helios provides same day delivery for large payloads from LEO to high-energy orbits — delivering heavy-lift performance at medium-lift costs.
Leveling will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
- Own Helios avionics as a product in the manufacturing organization. Serve as program manager both flight hardware and ground support equipment.
- Work with Helios program management to define schedules and deliverables.
- Own mechanical assembly of Helios avionics system by working with subject matter experts on the avionics manufacturing team (PCBAs, RF, optics, harnessing, batteries).
- Design the manufacturing process and write manufacturing procedures for mechanical assembly of the overall avionics system.
- Train and guide technicians building avionics hardware.
- Collaborate with design engineers on DFM of Helios avionics.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams on quality and long-term reliability.
- Ensure the timely delivery of avionics components to Integration.
- Provide day-to-day support for the production floor, resolving build issues, updating work instructions, and improving yields.
- Support environmental and functional testing in production.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors' degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in a program management or project management role leading cross functional teams to deliver complex hardware, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- 3+ years of experience as a manufacturing engineer for electronic or optical hardware
- Experience writing manufacturing work instructions and training technicians to build hardware.
- Proficient in mechanical design using Siemens NX
