Senior AIT Engineer, Electronics

Job Description

Posted on:

Role highlights:

  • Senior AIT Engineer, Electronics

  • Location: Espoo, Finland

  • Department: Global Manufacturing Organisation

  • Reports to: AIT Engineering Team Manager

  • Employment type: Permanent

  • Workplace model: Hybrid / Office

  • Employment is subject to applicable security screening (incl. SUPO, where required)

Why this role matters:

The Senior AIT Engineer, Electronics is the integration readiness authority for all electronics and power-related subsystems in ICEYE's satellite. You own the discipline from early design review through Production Readiness Review (PRR), production support, and system verification — ensuring that the entire electronics chain is manufacturable, testable, and takt-compatible at scale.

This is not a production execution role. You are the engineer who ensures production can execute: you own the integration logic, the procedures, the technical escalation path, and the feedback loop back to Engineering. You work in a "2-in-a-box" model with subsystem designers, they own the design, you own how it integrates.

Who We Are

ICEYE is the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space. We deliver persistent monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to changes in any location on Earth.

ICEYE owns the world's largest and most advanced SAR (synthetic aperture radar) satellite constellation. To our customers we provide intelligence with unmatched quality, latency and revisit times, in any weather, day or night. To governments who choose to operate their own constellation we provide this proven capability as a sovereign system.

ICEYE-built constellations serve customers in defence and intelligence, environmental monitoring, insurance and emergency management. We enable fast decisions that contribute to a safer future.

Founded and headquartered in Finland, ICEYE operates globally with over 1000 employees across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

Your day-to-day responsibilities

  • Own integration readiness for electronics and power subsystems: power management, power conditioning and distribution, battery systems, solar panels, watchdog and contactor systems, electrical interfaces, and power firmware and boot logic across all satellite variants

  • Act as the satellite-wide electronics expert, the person engineering and production both turn to when electrical behaviour during integration is unclear, unexpected, or blocking

  • Work in a "2-in-a-box" partnership with Engineering subsystem owners: co-own the PRR package for your discipline, assess manufacturability and testability of design changes early, and ensure no electrical design reaches production without your integration sign-off

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve procedures, flows, and troubleshooting guides for your subsystems by ensuring documentation is technically correct, version-controlled, and production-executable without interpretation

  • Own Tier-2 technical support for electronics-related non-conformances and integration anomalies: triage, root cause, corrective action, and closure protecting production time and preventing recurrence

  • Participate in Engineering projects, ensuring that lessons learned translate directly into production-ready documentation and PRR

  • Train and mentor production technicians on electronics integration steps, building floor-level competence that reduces dependence on engineering escalation

  • Drive subsystem manufacturing readiness level (MRL) maturity, maintaining an improvement roadmap

What we’re looking for

Must haves:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in electronics integration, assembly, or test engineering in a hardware-intensive environment

  • Strong understanding of power electronics: power distribution architectures, battery management systems, solar power conditioning, and electrical boot sequences at system level

  • Demonstrated experience owning a subsystem or discipline end-to-end from design review through integration and verification, not just executing procedures someone else wrote

  • Proficiency with electronics lab equipment: power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, and protocol analysers

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ICDs, and system-level documentation, and to translate them into practical integration and test procedures

  • Experience identifying and resolving electronics integration anomalies under time pressure, with clear root cause documentation

  • Excellent communication skills in English written and verbal, across both engineering and production audiences

Nice to haves:

  • Experience in spacecraft, aerospace, defence, or other high-reliability electronics environments

  • Familiarity with satellite power subsystems or embedded power management firmware behaviour

  • Experience writing and owning integration procedures for a production environment at scale

  • Experience with ESD-controlled and cleanroom work environments

  • Proficiency with Jira or equivalent engineering tracking and NC management systems

  • Exposure to production readiness reviews (PRR), design reviews (PDR/CDR), or equivalent formal engineering gate processes

  • Knowledge of IPC standards or equivalent electronics assembly and inspection standards

  • Python or scripting experience for test automation or diagnostic tooling

Application Process

  • TA Screening

  • Hiring Manager Interview

  • Task

  • Final Interview Stages
