Technical Program Manager III, Immersive Hardware, Google XR

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As an Immersive Hardware Technical Program Manager, you will own the execution of XR hardware programs from conception through Engineering Validation and Test. You will ensure cross-team and cross-company alignment on goals, priorities, roadmaps, and schedules, and effectively communicate program status to all stakeholders. You will balance conflicting technical needs across electrical engineering, optics, and product design to ensure the final hardware provides a user experience. You will manage vendor relationships from onboarding through build support, and drive cross-functional debugging efforts and root cause analysis of failures.

US: $163000 - $236000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 5 years of experience in program management.
  
• Experience in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or product design.
• Experience managing contract manufacturers and global vendors.

Preferred qualifications:

• 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
• Experience in hardware engineering.
• Experience across all phases of a product development from prototype to mass production.
• Experience in the consumer electronics industry.
• Experience commercializing a product and navigating early-stage technologies.

• Manage component and system builds through global vendors, including Statement of Work (SOW) creation and execution.
• Manage schedules and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure components smoothly integrate into system builds.
• Build program teams and lead them to make data-based decisions across a broad range of technical disciplines through rigorous decision-making processes.
• Establish a cadence for program reviews and phase-gate meetings.
• Partner with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) on hardware redesigns and improvements to ensure successful product scaling and production.
