Technical Program Manager III, Data Center Optics, Google Cloud

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $163000 - $236000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 5 years of experience in program management.
  
• Experience in optical design.
• Experience with system architecture for data center equipment (e.g., servers, switches, CPUs/accelerators, racks, PCIe, and tray-to-tray interconnects).

Preferred qualifications:

• Advanced degree in Physics Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
• Experience in Program Management of hardware or system integration projects.
• Experience in optical and high speed communication systems and corresponding components.
• Engagement with director level executives, with proven experience in executive-level communication
  
• Familiarity with various optical and electrical devices (lasers, modulators, high speed copper cable , passive devices, etc.), and corresponding dev cycle (including reliability/quality aspects).

• Lead a cross-functional team, spanning organizational levels and functional areas to develop and deliver optical and highspeed copper cable system solutions from inception to production.
• Set the vision and direction for a program by outlining goals and objectives, evaluating and supervising multiple projects, organizing cross-project work within the program, and defining program controls/governance/standards.
• Engage with engineering directors, product leaders and other Technical Program Manager (TPM) groups, to streamline processes, simplify execution, manage OKRs, release on time, bring tooling for efficiencies and help the teams you are engaged with in execution.
• Develop and prepare project documentation, process maps, presentations and tracking reports to provide detailed schedule and current status of each project.
• Use technical judgment to drive project delivery, technology reviews, challenge proposals and build consensus.
