Job Description

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard—from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we work to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

The Role

ARC is seeking a Power Electronics Integration Engineer to support the design, integration, and validation of power distribution and power electronics hardware for our autonomous mobile robot (AMR) platforms.

In this role, you will work closely with the Autonomy Stack Program Engineering Manager and Hardware Program Engineering Manager to develop and integrate PCB-based power hardware from schematic capture through validation. Your work will span battery interfaces, DC-DC conversion, motor-drive power stages, charging systems, and the broader power architecture that enables reliable AMR operation.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the design, integration, and validation of power distribution and power electronics hardware, including AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion and battery interfaces.

  • Contribute to PCB-based hardware development from schematic capture through layout collaboration, fabrication, bring-up, and validation.

  • Perform power-budget and load analyses and support the development of component derating strategies.

  • Troubleshoot power-delivery, thermal-management, electrical-robustness, and system-integration issues during development and testing.

  • Partner with the Wiring Engineer and program engineering leaders to integrate power hardware into AMR platforms.

  • Support component selection for power electronics and distribution hardware, including regulators, switches, protection devices, and related components.

  • Maintain clear, accurate technical documentation for power architectures, PCB designs, test plans, and validation results.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • At least two years of experience in power electronics or PCB-based electrical hardware design.

  • Working knowledge of power-conversion topologies and PCB design best practices.

  • Familiarity with industry-standard ECAD tools, such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, or equivalent.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose power, thermal, electrical, and integration challenges.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working across hardware, wiring, software, and systems engineering teams.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Experience designing power hardware for robotics, industrial automation, autonomous systems, or battery-powered products.

  • Experience with high-current, high-power, or battery-powered system design.

  • Familiarity with functional-safety and regulatory standards, such as UL, CE, and ISO 13849.

  • Experience using simulation tools to evaluate power, thermal, or circuit behavior, such as SPICE or MATLAB/Simulink.
