Roles and Responsibilities
- Own NPI manufacturing readinessfor assigned AM parts, from early build through production release (process definition, planning, documentation, controls).
- Develop and maintain manufacturing routersand production planning for new part introductions, including operation sequence, inspection points, and acceptance criteria alignment.
- Define and validate process requirementsfor metal AM builds (critical-to-quality characteristics, key process parameters, process windows) in partnership with Quality and Engineering.
- Establish/maintain machine programming and build setup standards(where applicable), ensuring programs, parameters, and revisions are controlled and production-ready.
- Plan and execute build-to-build learning: capture issues, lead root cause, implement corrective actions, and document lessons learned into standard work.
- Lead cross-functional executionof NPI deliverables (Manufacturing, Quality, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, Facilities/EHS) to meet program cost, schedule, and quality targets.
- Drive process capability and variation reductionusing Six Sigma tools (baseline capability, identify drivers, implement controls, verify effectiveness).
- Identify, prioritize, and execute waste reductionopportunities using Lean principles during ramp and stabilization (cycle time, yield, rework, scrap, WIP, material flow).
- Own change managementfor NPI process maturation: coordinate ECO/PCO impacts, update documentation, and ensure training and readiness before release.
- Support PFMEA/control plan/process control development(or equivalent risk/control methods) and ensure these are reflected in planning and training.
- Train, qualify, and support production associateson new/changed processes; confirm adherence and escalate gaps through appropriate coaching/leadership channels.
- Transition processes to sustaining ownership: ensure stable process performance, complete documentation, and clear ownership of post-release support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years manufacturing engineering experience)
- Minimum of 3 years manufacturing engineering experience
Desired Characteristics
- 10 years experience working in a manufacturing engineering support role
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
- Established project management skills.
- Additive manufacturing experience supporting metal additive manufacturing in production (e.g., parameter control, build documentation, post-processing flow, yield improvement)
- NPI/industrialization experience with manufacturing readiness, ramp planning, and production release/handoff for new products/processes
- Quality & controls familiarity with process risk and control methods (PFMEA, control plans, process qualifications/validations, inspection planning)
- Data & rigor with strong data analysis skills; able to connect process inputs to outputs and quality outcomes
- Communicate using effective oral and written communication; ability to align stakeholders and drive closure
- Work in a highly organized, meticulous attention to detail, comfortable operating with limited direction within standard procedures
- Continuous improvement with demonstrated initiative to learn quickly and improve processes without relying on formal training
