Overview We are seeking a full-time Aviation Test Hardware Design Engineer 2 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing moderately complex test hardware to facilitate factory testing of Garmin products under supervision of management and/or a mentor. Essential Functions Work under general supervision of design, software, and test software engineers to define test requirements and procedures that will be used to confirm that newly produced Garmin products meet minimum performance standards Design, develop and document test hardware in accordance with Garmin’s hardware development methodology Assist production associates in introducing new test hardware/equipment to production Perform maintenance and support activities for test hardware already in use in accordance with Garmin’s hardware change management process Collaborate with factory, test software engineers, and design engineers to fix factory test hardware problems quickly and effectively Lead small projects and/or sub-projects as part of a greater project and may perform as a technical leader who guides technical direction of projects Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Computer Engineering (BSCE), or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Must possess knowledge and/or experience with test equipment and software tools for electronics design, testing, and documentation Must demonstrate proficient use and knowledge of engineering tools Demonstrated ability to use general EE troubleshooting tools (ex. oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, etc.) Familiarity of relevant product testing tools and methodologies (ex. configuration management systems, simulators, test management hardware, and test equipment) Ability to develop moderately complex designs that may be derived largely from existing products that may be either analog, digital, or RF Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Must be positive, detail/quality oriented, organized, analytical, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and work proactively in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment Must possess other education and/or experiences as required for the specific projects or products that this person will develop Desired Qualifications Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) Knowledge and/or experience with Garmin’s hardware development and production methodologies is desirable Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
