SUMMARY
As an Launch Vehicle Integration Engineer, you will support the final launch site integration of launch vehicles by working through assembly, testing, and troubleshooting processes. You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and test teams to ensure seamless vehicle integration and functionality. Your contributions will help drive successful vehicle builds and flight operations. This position will work closely with and support the launch pad teams in ensuring critical systems necessary to execute the launch campaign are mission capable. This role is located in Vandenberg, CA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support vehicle integration activities, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and propulsion system integration.
- Support the development and execution of integration plans, procedures, and timelines for vehicle assembly and testing.
- Work with design and manufacturing teams to ensure hardware is properly integrated and operational.
- Provide hands-on support for vehicle integration and launch site testing, working closely with technicians and engineers.
- Assist in troubleshooting and problem resolution of integration issues to maintain project timelines.
- Contribute to best practices for system integration, testing, and verification.
- Support environmental and functional tests on integrated aerospace vehicles and launch pad systems.
- Document integration procedures, lessons learned, and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Support vehicle final testing and integration at the launch site across all stages up to and including launch.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in aerospace vehicle integration or related engineering fields.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems integration for aerospace applications.
- Experience with system-level testing and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with CAD software and engineering tools for integration analysis.
- Hands-on experience working with aerospace hardware and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documents.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work in a hands-on, high-energy environment, including cleanroom and manufacturing areas.
- Willingness to support off-shift work, extended hours, or travel as required for integration and testing.
- Ability to obtain a US DOD security clearance. US Citizen.
Desired
- Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft final integration at the launch site.
- Experience with launch campaign execution from assembly through test and launch.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., NASA, FAA, DoD, AS9100, AFSPC MAN 91-710).
- Experience with design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA) principles.
- Knowledge of propulsion system integration and fluid system handling.
- Experience with PLM and ERP tools for integration tracking and documentation.
