We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual with a passion for leading, developing, and coaching a manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving product-specific schedule attainment and daily production execution to ensure customer and business commitments are met. You will lead efforts focused on employee engagement, operational performance, and continuous improvement while partnering cross-functionally to identify and resolve production challenges. This role also provides the opportunity to lead projects and initiatives that are critical to the success of our operations and business.

This is an onsite role in Cedar Rapids, IA and may be eligible for relocation.

What You Will Do

  • Ensures all quality related items for one cell are complete and documented to meet established quality standards.
  • Leads daily production execution for the assigned cell, establishing priorities and coordinating resources to meet production, customer, and business commitments.
  • Partners with Production Scheduling to ensure schedules accurately reflect operational capacity, labor availability, material constraints, customer priorities, and other production requirements.
  • Provides timely operational inputs to Production Scheduling and communicates constraints, risks, and recovery requirements to ensure schedules are achievable and executable.
  • Establishes and communicates daily production priorities within the cell based on customer requirements, schedule commitments, material availability, and operational constraints.
  • Monitors performance against the established production schedule and leads recovery actions when performance gaps or risks are identified.
  • Coordinates activities for materials and logistics problem resolution within the cell to ensure material availability and minimize disruptions to production.
  • Identifies and removes operational constraints that impact production flow, including labor, materials, tooling, equipment, engineering, quality, and process issues.
  • Owns cell performance against key operational metrics, including On-Time Delivery, productivity, quality, safety, inventory, labor utilization, and cost performance.
  • Identifies and implements cost reduction and process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency, improve productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall cost effectiveness.
  • Leads root-cause analysis and corrective action for recurring production, quality, delivery, and process issues.
  • Evaluates cell capacity and resource requirements and communicates constraints, risks, and opportunities to Operations leadership and Production Scheduling.
  • Interfaces with customers to understand customer needs and issues and ensures that the cell delivers products and services that meet established customer requirements.
  • Manages and supervises the work of manufacturing production personnel within the Operations function, ensuring appropriate direction, accountability, and execution.
  • Establishes clear performance expectations and holds employees accountable for operational, quality, safety, and behavioral standards.
  • Addresses employee issues and concerns promptly and appropriately while maintaining a positive, respectful, and productive work environment.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Proficiency in SAP

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with Continuous Improvement principles (lean manufacturing, ACE, QCPC, etc.)
  • Experience in team leadership roles
  • Experience working with all levels of management
  • Highly self-directed, quick learner, strong drive and results driven
  • Understanding of basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
