Pratt & Whitney is seeking a highly motivated individual to support the manufacturing maturation of ceramic matrix composite (CMC) turbine components. CMCs are an enabling material that increases the temperature capability of jet engine components. Through successful development and application of these materials, P&W will deliver engines that are more fuel efficient, lighter weight and more durable for commercial and military applications.

What You Will Do:

• Design, program, and troubleshoot Siemens PLC systems to support manufacturing operations.
• Develop, test, and maintain control systems and instrumentation for manufacturing equipment.
• Integrate instrumentation and control systems with existing processes and machinery.
• Create and implement strategies for automation to improve quality and minimize process costs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and maintenance, to identify and resolve production challenges.
• Perform diagnostics and root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation and control systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Calibrate instruments and control devices to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Design and implement system upgrades, including hardware and software modifications, to improve performance and reliability.
• Maintain detailed documentation of control systems, including P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and electrical schematics.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and industry regulations related to control systems and instrumentation.
• Work closely with other engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to optimize system performance.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related discipline and 5+ years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in PLC programming and troubleshooting (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell Automation, or similar platforms).
• Familiarity with industrial control systems, instrumentation, and electrical schematics.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• US Citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Hands-on experience with PLCs, SCADA, or HMI software during internships, co-op programs, or academic projects.
• Experience with TIA Portal or Easy Builder Pro platforms and Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with chemical processing and knowledge of manufacturing processes as well as automation technologies.
• Understanding of standards such as OSHA, NFPA, NEC, ANSI, and ISA.
• Experience with data acquisition systems and industrial sensors (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow).
• Ability to perform instrument calculations, such as valve sizing and voltage.
• Knowledge and effective practice of EH&S (Environmental, Health and Safety) and PSM (Process Safety Management) requirements.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
