What You Will Do
The Mechanical/Industrial Engineering Co-op position will work with the Process Center IPT in the Melbourne, FL facility. This role is designed for a Mechanical, Process, or Industrial Engineering student seeking hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering methods and techniques. If selected, the co-op will gain familiarity with Surface Mount Technology and/or Through Hole processes, as well as methods to measure, analyze, and improve these processes.
What You Will Learn
Provide production floor support for manufacturing processes.
Assist in various process-related projects, including:
Process equipment verification and validation.
Process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
Scrap reduction related to process inefficiencies.
Out-of-Equipment (OOE) improvement initiatives.
Time study projects involving work measurement, creation, and validation of time standards.
Facility re-layout planning and execution.
Lean manufacturing implementation.
Apply Lean principles, including:
5S methodology.
Development of standard work processes.
Optimization of production flow.
Collaborate with Industrial Engineers (IEs) and Production Managers to identify inefficiencies and implement productivity improvements.
Develop cost-benefit analyses for alternate methods, processes, layouts, parts, tooling, or equipment.
Qualifications You Must Have *
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related STEM major and actively enrolled through the completion of the co-op session.
Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident (“Green Card” holder).
Qualifications We Prefer
Knowledge of Lean principles.
Experience using computer aided design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks
Experience with programming and project management.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
