What You Will Do
Embedded Security Software Engineer II– Secure Product Assurance – Tucson RMD
Join the Secure Product Assurance/Sensors Space and Air Software team at Raytheon, where we develop cutting-edge software applications focused on solving our customers' toughest defense challenges. In this role, you will be part of an elite software engineering team to design, code, integrate, and test critical real-time embedded software with applications to advance next generation radar, sensor, guidance, and fire control systems. Operating at the leading edge of technology, you will contribute across all phases of the software development lifecycle to deliver innovative solutions that help keep our nation and allies safe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work on complex technical problems and collaborate to provide innovative solutions. Requires investigation and troubleshooting skills to assess issues and develop resolutions.
- Work at all phases of the SW development lifecycle, including SW/HW integration, dependent on program phase
- Assist in the derivation of system and software requirements, architectural modeling, and technical analysis
- Design, code, unit test, integrate, and document real-time embedded software solutions with a focus on Secure Software Solution implementations.
- Participate actively in software peer reviews, code inspections, and technical decision-making alongside multidisciplinary teams, including program leadership and customers
- Support program execution to ensure work products meet technical, cost, schedule, and quality baselines.
- Follow established software development processes and practices to maintain software product integrity.
- Work Location: Onsite at our Tucson, AZ Campus
- This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Masters degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from accredited institution. Degree must be obtained by start date.
- Experience developing, and testing or debugging software using C, C++, or similar object-oriented programming language
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl or similar
- Real time embedded software development experience
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving experience
- Experience developing software in a team-based development environment with strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Knowledge of Software Development Processes and experience participating in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements, design, implementation, and testing
- Experience working with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and automated build environments.
- Familiarity with Scrum/Agile, DevSecOps, Git/GitLab
- Familiarity with Linux OS and Kernal development; Linux device drivers
- Hands-on experience developing low-level device drivers or real-time embedded operating system (RTOS) applications.
- Hardware / software integration experience
- Interfacing with FPGAs
- Inter-processor communication
- X-86 and ARM Architectures
- Secure boot concepts
- Embedded Software Security experience
- Experience designing, implementing, testing, or fielding real-time security-oriented solutions on Department of Defense (DoD) programs (embedded experience highly preferred)

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
