Robotics Operations Intern — Part-Time
Job Description
About Civ Robotics
Civ Robotics is on a mission to automate repetitive tasks within the $3 trillion infrastructure construction industry. We build autonomous robotic solutions that help construction teams work faster, safer, and more efficiently.
With more than 100 robots deployed on construction sites around the world, our team works at the intersection of robotics, hardware, software, and real-world field operations.
About the Role
We’re looking for a part-time Robotics Operations Intern to join our team in San Francisco and support the day-to-day operations behind our growing robot fleet.
This is a highly hands-on role. You’ll work alongside our Robotics Operations and Applications team to help prepare robots and equipment for customer deployments, organize outgoing shipments, receive and process incoming equipment, maintain our inventory and workspace, and make sure our robots and accessories are ready when and where they’re needed.
This role is ideal for a current engineering student looking to gain practical experience with real robotic systems while continuing their studies. You’ll get an inside look at what it takes to operate and support a fleet of robots being used on active construction sites around the world.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare robots, accessories, tools, and equipment for customer deployments and shipments
- Pack, organize, label, and coordinate outgoing robot shipments
- Receive, unpack, inspect, and organize incoming and returned equipment
- Help prepare robots for upcoming deployments, demos, and field operations
- Perform basic robot setup, cleaning, charging, inspection, and readiness checks
- Maintain organized inventory of robots, accessories, spare parts, tools, and shipping materials
- Track equipment moving in and out of the office and help ensure everything is accounted for
- Assist with basic robot testing, troubleshooting, and operational tasks
- Help keep our robotics workspace organized and deployment-ready
- Jump in on other hands-on operational projects as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or another related technical field
- Interest in robotics, hardware, automation, or electromechanical systems
- Comfortable working hands-on with physical equipment, tools, and robotic hardware
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Dependable and comfortable taking ownership of recurring operational tasks
- Willing to learn and jump in wherever the team needs support
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment
- Able to safely lift and move equipment as required for shipping and operational preparation
- Available to work part-time from our San Francisco office during the academic year
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with robotics, electronics, mechanical systems, or hardware
- Experience with tools, assembly, repairs, fabrication, or technical projects
- Participation in a university robotics team, Formula SAE, FIRST Robotics, makerspace, or similar hands-on engineering activities
- Familiarity with Linux, ROS/ROS2, electronics, or basic scripting
- Experience with shipping, inventory, lab, warehouse, or equipment-management processes
What You’ll Gain
This isn’t a desk-only internship. You’ll work directly with real robots and alongside the team responsible for getting them ready for customers and deployments.
You’ll gain practical exposure to robotics operations, robot hardware, deployment preparation, fleet and equipment management, testing, troubleshooting, and the day-to-day realities of working at a fast-growing robotics startup.
As you become familiar with our robots and systems, there may also be opportunities to take on more technical projects and responsibilities.
