Construction autonomy is one of the most complex challenges in applied AI, and at Caterpillar, advancements in physical AI, simulation, sensing, and edge computing are turning things that once felt impossible—intelligent machines
operating
in dynamic jobsites—into reality.
What You Will Do:
This role
is
a
senior
leader role which will
establish
a
team in partnership with
their
peers to
develo
p
and implement
simulations
and
digita
l twins
supporting automation and robotics
.
They will
be responsible for
a futuristic roadmap
.
They will also
lead
the charge
on neural
network-based
simulations.
What You Will
Have
:
Hire and develop a
team of simulation
,
software
and rendering/visualization engineers focused on VLA based robotics.
Work with management to bring skills related to
statistical and neural network-based
simulation
to Caterpillar.
Work with
peers and
management to define the
long
‑
term
vision,for
robotics
simulation
and allied platform.
Partner with leadership
and peerstoestablish
amulti
‑
year
simulation and digital twin roadmap,supporting automation and robotics.

nto

imulation
s
olutions
.
I
dentifying
where simulations and digital twins can support robotics.
Determine
thetechnologies,
and
simulation capabilitiesfor the futureof robotics.
Work closely with engineering, autonomy, controls, software, product teams, and enterprise data groups to ensure simulation solutions meet business outcomes and integrate seamlessly with existing systems.
Assess current
simulation
assets across Caterpillar and define the strategy to integrate, extend, orconsolidate
them into a cohesive digital ecosystemsupporting robotics.
Top Candidates Will Have
:
10
+
year
management experience in
robotics and/or simulation
and/orsoftware.
Start-up preferred.
8
+ years in simulation,
robotics
or autonomy—with direct experience deployingOmniverse
‑
based
digital twins strongly preferred.
A solid b
ackground in construction, mining
automation
and robotics will be preferred.
Very strong
background in statisticaland neural network
simulation.
Track record
inestablishing
new organizations.
Deep understanding of simulation architecture,
robotics,
model governance, verification/validation practices, and integration of simulations with
real
‑
time
data sources.
Proven ability to work with senior management to
establish
vision, strategy, andmulti
‑
year
roadmaps.
Excellent communication skills for translating complex technical concepts into actionable business insights.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
, Computer Science,
Robotics
,
M
athematics
or related discipline (
Master’s
or PhD preferred).

Summary Pay Range:
$172,630.00 - $258,950.00
