Receiving Inspector
Boom Supersonic is building the Overture supersonic airliner and the Superpower gas turbine — machines that require some of the most demanding manufacturing in modern industry.
That only works if every part that goes into them is exactly what the drawing says it is. As a Receiving Inspector, you are the first line of defense — the person who verifies that what arrives is what we ordered, what we need.
Not a dock job
This is a hands-on inspection role. You'll measure parts, read drawings, review certs, and make accept, reject, or quarantine calls on real flight and turbine hardware. The decisions you make protect safety and keep the build line moving.
You'll also be doing it in a company that is still building its quality system. Your eye for what's missing, unclear, or wrong helps shape the process.
What you'll do
Inspect incoming raw material, fasteners, machined parts, composites, electrical components, and assemblies against drawings, specs, and purchase orders
Use calibrated measurement tools — calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin and thread gauges, and CMM where applicable — to verify dimensional and visual requirements
Review supplier documentation, including certificates of conformance, material certs, and test reports, for accuracy and completeness
Re-verify parts returning from outside processing like heat treat and coating, and reconnect them to their traceability record
Document, tag, and quarantine nonconforming material, and initiate nonconformance reports
Support Material Review Board activities with clear inspection data
Maintain lot, heat, and serial traceability, and handle ESD-sensitive and controlled items properly
Work with Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve issues quickly
Keep the inspection area organized and follow all safety and FOD-control practices
This job is demanding
You'll be asked to hold the line when something is late and someone needs the part. You'll need to say no clearly, back it up with data, and help find the path forward. That takes technical skill, judgment, and the confidence to be the person who stops the line when something isn't right.
You probably have
Inspection experience in aerospace, defense, or another regulated precision-manufacturing environment
Proficiency with precision measuring equipment
The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T
Familiarity with AS9100 or similar quality system requirements
Strong attention to detail and clear written and verbal communication
The ability to lift 50 lbs and stay on your feet for extended periods
CMM or advanced metrology experience, AS9102 first article knowledge, ERP/QMS experience, and counterfeit-parts awareness are all a plus
