Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) is looking for an Avionics Repair and Modification Technician to join our Executive Fleet team in San Antonio, TX.
Position Responsibilities:
- Perform connector terminations including shielded wires, coaxial cables, and fiber optic wiring
- Ability to apply technical knowledge to solve problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturer manuals or similar documents
- Understand the interrelationships of circuits, exercise judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment
- Performs aircraft bench and/or flight line operational testing and troubleshooting in accordance with manufacturer, company, supplier and other directives
- Perform sealing, wrapping, bonding, tying, and closure of wire harnesses and cables in accordance with standard processes
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specification, and retrofit requirements to perform electrical modifications and repairs
- Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of electrical wiring
- Perform assembly, installation, visual inspection of physical characteristics, modification of wire bundles & electrical assemblies, operational and quality checks of aircraft
- Troubleshoot organizational and depot maintenance level malfunctions in aircraft electrical and comms/nav-systems
- Interpret standard work instructions, charts, tables, blueprints, wire diagrams, formulas, sketches, verbal and electronic orders, job layouts, etc...
- Use all equipment in accordance with established safety and operating procedures.
- Perform all tasks involved in the coordination, preparation, and movement of material and tools
- Operate riding type electric powered elevating equipment to accomplish work assignments
- Maintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned work.
- Ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds
This position requires the ability to pass an assessment during the training cycle
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Experience with
electrical/electronic
theories - Experience with avionics and aircraft systems
- Experience in working with specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures.
- Experience with component and wire installation: (repairing, modifying, testing and troubleshooting new, experimental, and disturbed systems)
- Experience with aircraft computer systems and basic office software
- Ability to work variable shifts
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience with heavy aircraft modification
- Experience working with operating radar systems (COMSEC, Radar, or Electronic Warfare Systems)
- Operate a forklift, mobile crane, and riding type electric powered elevating equipment to accomplish work assignment.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations
Summary Pay Rate: $74,700 / $35.91 per hour
Additive Pay:
- $1.00 per hour for Airframe Certification
- $1.00 per hour for Powerplant Certification
