At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), supporting Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. The team fosters innovation and drives engineering workflows of the future, shared solutions and standards, simplicity and lower costs, and manufacturable design.

We invite you to be a part of our Space Resources Program. This initiative is at the forefront of developing In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) technologies, destined for the Moon and beyond to prospect, extract, and manufacture infrastructures from in-situ space resources. If you're passionate about our mission and are looking to make a meaningful contribution, you might just be the ideal candidate to join our innovative, and forward-thinking team.

In this hands-on role, you will be based entirely on-site, working directly in the lab alongside our design and integration team. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Sr. AIT Technician to be a key team member focused on daily lab operations supporting satellite and subsystem integration, qualification testing, material & process development, failure investigations, and process control validation. You will play a critical role in assembling, testing, and troubleshooting flight and prototype hardware, operating with a high degree of autonomy and sound judgment to keep pace with a fast-moving satellite development project. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment and is comfortable balancing technical rigor, schedule pressure, and evolving program needs.

Responsibilities

  • Run thermal vacuum (TVAC) tests and maintain TVAC operations through qualification testing.

  • Modify or generate work instructions and follow aerospace test and integration best practices for thermal vacuum chamber testing and structural/mechanical testing.

  • Mechanically integrate flight hardware, including fluid and propulsion systems, star trackers, radios, instrumentation, flight computers, harnesses, and solar array panels, while adhering to technical and environmental processes and procedures.

  • Collaborate closely with engineers to develop, assemble, and test aerospace components.

  • Perform development and production activities on space systems and satellites with minimal documentation and oversight, exercising sound judgment to keep pace with an accelerated schedule.

  • Apply detailed knowledge of electronic and mechanical fabrication methods to assemble hardware or perform rework.

  • Maintain full familiarity with flight hardware deployment procedures.

  • Manufacture and integrate space-standard harnesses.

  • Perform tests on development and prototype hardware with minimal direction from engineers.

  • Perform system fault testing, including continuity checks, functional checkouts, and voltage measurements.

  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where priorities and challenges shift daily.

  • Coordinate directly with the area supervisor to align on weekly testing goals.

  • Generate and review job hazard assessments, establish safety controls, and drive corrective actions to completion.

  • Model and enforce proper care of the physical lab space and equipment across the team.

  • Coordinate calibration and maintenance schedules to minimize tool/test equipment downtime.

  • Identify and remove blockers impacting daily and weekly testing goals (e.g., stepping in to assist, reverse shadowing, providing direct guidance, escalating issues).

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience, preferably in aerospace, aviation, military, or a related field, including:

    • Hands-on experience with thermal vacuum chambers.

    • Hands-on experience with electrical assembly tools, bench testing, and measuring instruments.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

  • experience working on flight hardware, satellites, or other high-reliability systems.

  • Ability to fully execute work orders, enforce safety standards, and complete complex testing tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Comfortable operating with reduced process rigor and documentation typical of rapid-development missions, while maintaining core safety and quality standards.

  • Hands-on, flexible, and a quick learner, organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative with a can-do attitude.

  • Experience scheduling work and coordinating competing priorities using Jira or similar tools.

  • Familiarity with MRP systems and inventory planning.

  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.

  • Able to lift 30 lbs, stand for long periods, bend, grasp, sit, pull, push, stoop, and stretch as required for the position.

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant fields is a plus

  • Experience with high thermal conditions

  • Hands on experience with complex elecro-mechanical system

  • Prior experience supporting small-sat, or rapid-prototype satellite programs where speed and resourcefulness outweigh heavy process overhead
