Job Summary:
The IT Systems Engineer I for Engineering Applications is a technical engineer responsible for the administration, support, and continuous improvement of Crane A&E Product Data Management (PDM) systems. This role involves supporting day-to-day operations, user management, performing routine configuration changes, and maintaining system stability. The engineer will work primarily with PDM systems such as IBM DOORS, EWM, RPE, and Solidworks EPDM tools. Responsibilities also include ensuring configuration control, proper authorization of product data, and compliance with company policies for data management and security, as outlined in the organization's Product Data Management processes and standards.
Essential Functions:
Ensure uptime of critical business systems and infrastructure by monitoring and remediating issues with critical applications, which aligns with the need for system stability and configuration control in PDM environments.
Provides first-line support by administering and maintaining PDM applications.
Create and manage user accounts, permissions and access requests.
Configure project setups, templates, and basic workflow configurations, and customizing solutions on IBM Rational Tools/SolidWorks EPDM to meet business and customer requirements, supporting process/workflow automation
Support data entry, requirement imports/exports and baseline creation.
Monitor system health, escalating issues to senior engineers, troubleshooting user issues, and performing routine maintenance activities to maintain system effectiveness and efficiency
Responsible for working on enhancement requests.
Assist with tool upgrades, patches and environment migrations.
Support deployments across dev, test and production environments.
Prepare technical documents, action plans and other solution documents as needed.
Support end-user training upon completion of software solutions.
- Maintains organization's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing process/workflow automation
- Provides on-demand COTS applications support by resolving service requests for purchase, installation, troubleshooting, or system access
- Ensures adherence to all regulatory compliance processes and requirements, including but not limited to DFARS, ITAR and like regulations.
Any other tasks assigned by supervisor or management.
Eligibility Requirement:
This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Minimum Qualifications:
- 0-2+ years of experience in administration, custom development, or system configuration of Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
- Basic knowledge of IBM Rational Suite tools such as EWM or DOORS, supporting requirements management and configuration management activities.
- Familiarity with programming or scripting languages like Python, JavaScript, or REST APIs, which are useful for customizing and automating PDM and related engineering processes
- Basic knowledge of requirements management, software configuration management and change control.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of TeamCenter PLM or Windchill applications, which are commonly used PDM/PLM systems in engineering environments.
- Basic knowledge of configuration and task management in Azure DevOps, supporting modern software development and engineering workflows.
- Basic knowledge of systems/Windows server administration, which aids in maintaining the infrastructure supporting PDM and related engineering tools

- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, demonstrated by the ability to analyze complex issues, develop solutions, and make informed decisions.
- Ability to complete job requirements within time constraints, supported by effective time management and prioritization skills
- Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
- Strong customer and communication skills, including the capability to provide clear, concise written and verbal communication.
- Must be self-motivated and directed.
- Strong interest in efficiency and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently in a distributed team.
- Documentation writing skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
Education/Certification:
- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Working Conditions:

Salary range: $85,754.50 - $104,215.10.
Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs
