2026 Summer Intern, BS/MS, Systems Engineering, Applied GenAI

The role is an internship position focused on Systems Engineering at Waymo, where the intern will analyze workflows to identify automation opportunities using Generative AI, design and maintain automation workflows, and collaborate with the SysEng team.

• Analyze Systems Engineering workflows for GenAI-driven automation opportunities.
• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain automation workflows using Generative AI.
• Conduct advanced prompt engineering for effective GenAI model performance.
• Collaborate with the SysEng team to gather requirements and integrate solutions.
• Document design, implementation, and maintenance procedures for GenAI workflows.
• Participate in teamwork and contribute to achieving performance standards.
• Support the SysEng team in ensuring vehicle performance and passenger safety.

• Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Demonstrated ability in prompt engineering for controlling LLM behavior.
• Strong understanding of core Generative AI concepts.
• Proficiency in Python and knowledge of SQL.
• Experience with version control systems and software development practices.
• Understanding of Systems Engineering and Test Engineering principles preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration.
