The role is an internship position focused on systems engineering within Waymo, where the intern will work on developing a user interface and a system to control fog at test sites, blending software and hardware systems.

• Develop a user interface for distributed measurements of fog along the tunnel.
• Develop a system for independently controlling fog for each subsection.
• Procure, install, test, and document the system.
• Collaborate with a remote team at the test site.
• Model and design closed-loop controllers.
• Manage a technical program, including establishing schedules and tracking progress.
• Propose solutions to difficulties encountered during the project.

• Currently enrolled in a BS program in computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related field.
• Experience in developing robotic systems through internships or coursework.
• Good communication skills for team collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and manage technical programs.
• Willingness to travel periodically.
