R&D Engineer, Instrumentation

The R&D Engineer, Instrumentation is responsible for building, maintaining, and improving laboratory and plant-level equipment, and developing new experimental methods to support R&D and non-R&D customers. They will also manage process and product improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with building and facilities services to improve and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Design new products and processes and improve existing ones under supervision.
  • Conduct design analysis on components or assemblies.
  • Define process improvements for safety, quality, cost, and control.
  • Work independently with known technologies and develop new technologies.
  • Initiate relationships with vendors and purchase equipment for laboratory operations.
  • Analyze current equipment and measurement protocols for new products and design instrumentation.

Job Requirements

  • B.S. in a technical field plus 3 years of relevant experience or M.S. plus 1 year.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve problems.
  • Must be able to work autonomously and in a team.
  • Working knowledge of computer-aided design equipment preferred.
  • Desired coding skills in multiple programming languages.
  • Experience with data interfaces and communication protocols.
