Responsibilities
- Define requirements for interior subsystems based on habitat architecture and crew use.
- Select and validate materials considering off-gassing, flame resistance, and other factors.
- Create designs using sketching, CAD, prototyping, and lab testing.
- Collaborate with engineering teams for integration of designs.
- Develop and oversee testing plans and qualification test campaigns.
- Work with suppliers to translate designs into manufacturable products.
- Document design decisions and maintain material tracker.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 2+ years of experience with CAD and FEA software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on abilities.
- Excellent communication skills for team collaboration.
- Comfort in ambiguous situations and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- 3-5 years of experience with soft goods or textiles preferred.
- Knowledge of soft good manufacturing processes is a plus.
