Responsibilities
- Define requirements for interior subsystems in alignment with habitat architecture and crew use.
- Select and validate materials considering off-gassing, flame resistance, and other factors.
- Create and iterate designs using sketching, CAD, and prototyping.
- Collaborate with engineering teams for integration of designs with structural elements.
- Develop test plans and oversee testing for various mechanical loads and environmental exposure.
- Work with suppliers to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet quality standards.
- Document design decisions and maintain material trackers.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 2+ years of experience with CAD and FEA software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on experience.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience with soft goods or textiles, preferably in aerospace.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes for soft goods.
- Willingness to travel occasionally and support hands-on testing.
