Responsibilities
- Lead the topology selection, component specification, and schematic design of the HTS Magnet PSU
- Design modular power converters with potential for arrayed operation and independent control
- Analyze and simulate power converter behavior using tools like PLECS, LTspice, or Simulink
- Integrate with embedded control hardware and firmware for proper current regulation
- Define and implement magnet protection mechanisms, including overcurrent shutdown
- Design thermal management systems for continuous operation
- Develop test plans and perform hardware bring-up, debugging, and optimization
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and testing power converters
- Proficiency in power stage design for DC/DC converters
- Strong simulation and modeling skills using PLECS, LTspice, or Simulink
- Experience with IGBTs, MOSFETs, and high-current busbar layout
- Familiarity with current sensors and analog control circuits
- Knowledge of thermal design and integration of cooling solutions in power electronics
