Responsibilities

  • Run experiments to assess thermal and mechanical abuse tolerance of battery components and systems.
  • Create experiments to inform thermal and mechanical simulation correlation.
  • Study properties of different types of failures in battery systems.
  • Collaborate in the design and manufacturing of future products.
  • Root cause and recreate extreme/abusive conditions for testing.
  • Provide rapid feedback to inform designs early in development.
  • Use understanding of battery systems to assess hazards across a broad product line.

Job Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer, combustion principles, and fluid mechanics.
  • Familiarity with battery systems and characteristics.
  • Hands-on experience with equipment testing, including assembly and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with CAD software (Catia V5, V6 or Solidworks).
  • Knowledge of lithium-ion batteries preferred.
  • Experience with software such as LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, or similar programming languages.
