Electrical Engineer
Job Description
About Springcraft
Today, building robots and intelligent machines means navigating fragmented tools, incompatible hardware, and closed ecosystems. It takes too long, costs too much, and locks builders in. There is no default platform for physical AI. We're building it.
Springcraft brings together purpose-built hardware, developer tools, and AI models into one open, integrated system so that builders can create machines that sense, understand, and act in the real world.
Founded by the team behind 8th Wall, the largest AR platform for the web (acquired by Niantic), we bring deep experience in spatial computing. Backed by Night Capital, Eric Semler of TCS Capital, Village Global, and exceptional angels, we're based in Palo Alto and hiring our core team now.
The Role
As a Hardware Engineer (Electrical), you will own electronic design across the Springcraft platform, starting with our motion control systems. You'll design custom PCBs, power systems, and control electronics, taking them from schematic to production.
This is a foundational hire. You'll shape the hardware DNA of everything we build.
Springcraft is built on open hardware and open standards. Your work will be used by developers, researchers, and builders around the world.
Responsibilities
- Design and iterate custom PCBs for power and control systems
- Select, qualify, and source components (microcontrollers, motor drivers, sensors, power ICs), including managing supplier relationships
- Design motor drive and control electronics, power management, and distribution systems
- Design for manufacturability, EMC, and compliance, including supporting regulatory certification efforts
- Develop and execute hardware validation and test procedures
- Own the contract manufacturer relationship for PCB fabrication and electronic component sourcing
- Assemble and bring-up of early prototype and production units, working closely with the Mechatronics Engineer
- Work closely with the Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineers on system integration, including communication interfaces between boards and embedded systems
- Contribute to hardware architecture decisions as the platform and product catalog expand
Job Requirements
- 2+ years of professional or academic experience in electrical engineering
- Strong PCB design skills (schematic capture, layout, and review)
- Experience with high-performance power electronics
- Ready to own the full lifecycle: design, prototyping, validation, and manufacturing
- Authorized to work in the United States, we are unable to sponsor work visas at this time
Nice to Have
- Experience with robotics or servo/motor systems
- Regulatory certification experience
- Familiarity with embedded Linux environments
- Background in a hardware startup that shipped physical products
Location
Palo Alto, CA (In-Person)
Compensation
- Competitive salary ($120,000–$180,000) + meaningful early-stage equity
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Paid time off and holidays
- Springcraft is an equal opportunity employer.
