The role of Launch Engineer, Mechanical/Fluids at SpaceX involves supporting the development of the Starship Tower and Launch Mount, focusing on hardware development from architecture through operational phases.
Responsibilities
- Drive hardware development for Starship tower and launch mount systems.
- Own design and manufacturing of mechanisms, actuation systems, and fluid systems.
- Perform structural, dynamic, thermal, and fluids analysis for system optimization.
- Collaborate with software and operation engineers for robust system development.
- Work with engineers on the Starship and Super Heavy vehicles for effective integration.
- Ensure systems are fault-tolerant for extreme launch conditions.
- Maintain physical dexterity for work in tight quarters at high elevations.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
- 1+ years of experience with CAD and FEA software.
- 1+ years of experience with mechanical or fluid systems design and assembly.
- Master's degree in engineering preferred.
- 3+ years of professional mechanical design experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of GD&T and manufacturing techniques.
- Self-motivated with strong communication skills.
