Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design of components, enclosures, and assemblies for space applications.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings with appropriate GD&T.
- Improve design for weight, stiffness, manufacturability, and ease of integration.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure system-level requirements are met.
- Support integration, manufacturing, and assembly, including supplier interactions.
- Assist in prototype builds, fit checks, and environmental testing.
- Manage configuration control and documentation throughout the design lifecycle.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- 3-6+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in aerospace or high-performance hardware.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD tools (NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of materials, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with design for manufacturability principles and mechanical interfaces.
- Proficiency with GD&T standards, ISO or ASME.
- Basic understanding of thermal and structural considerations in space hardware.
