Director, Space Vehicle Design

The Director of Space Vehicle Design at Rocket Lab leads a multi-disciplinary team focused on spacecraft development, guiding technical strategies and mentoring engineers while collaborating across various engineering teams.

• Lead the Space Vehicle Design team and manage team leads.
• Provide technical mentorship and ensure the integrity of team contributions.
• Collaborate with cross-discipline teams for smooth project execution.
• Develop and maintain design and analysis standards.
• Guide technical decision-making processes with the Space Systems Chief Engineer.
• Iterate design concepts with engineers and test engineers for manufacturability and integration.
• Oversee performance reviews and support career development of team members.

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 12+ years of engineering experience with spacecraft/satellite design.
• 3+ years of experience in a leadership role.
• Expertise in Siemens NX, Teamcenter, CAD, and GD&T.
• Proven success in bringing spacecraft hardware from concept to launch.
• Experience with environmental testing of spacecraft assemblies.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
