Mechanical Engineer, Autonomous Vehicle

The Mechanical Engineer for Autonomous Vehicle at Nuro will be responsible for the engineering development of autonomous vehicle hardware, including systems, structural components, and integration into prototype and production vehicles.

• Own engineering specifications, architecture, design, and development of AV hardware and integration components.
• Collaborate with industrial design for feasibility studies and functional designs.
• Assist AV hardware engineering teams at OEM partners and manage CAD and data exchanges.
• Work with manufacturing to facilitate production of components.
• Collaborate with CAE and test teams to design and execute validation plans.
• Support development and vehicle builds, identifying issues and solutions.
• Drive improvements in part quality, cost reductions, and efficiency enhancements.

• 3 years of experience in mechanical design, particularly in vehicle body systems.
• Strong background in functional areas such as Autonomous Sensors, EV Powertrain, and chassis design.
• Familiarity with the full product development process from concept to production release.
• Experience with manufacturing processes such as stamping, casting, and injection molding.
• Ability to run structural simulations and validations.
• Knowledge of GD&T standards and parameter/tolerance design concepts.
• Experience designing with a wide range of materials, optimizing for cost and performance.
