Responsibilities

  • Support the Power Engineering group with technical assistance for 230 substations.
  • Test substation equipment and represent the Engineering group in departmental meetings.
  • Review and approve/disapprove contractor submittals, test reports, and test procedures.
  • Propose methods for stray current mitigation and corrosion control.
  • Prepare technical specifications for substation equipment, 3rd Rail, and power cables.
  • Collaborate as a team player within the engineering group.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the NYCT Subway system, yards, shops, and transit railcars.

Job Requirements

  • Valid New York State Professional Engineer's License.
  • Four years of full-time experience in electrical engineering.
  • A master's degree in electrical engineering can substitute for one year of experience.
  • At least one year of experience as a major contributor or project leader on complex projects for higher assignment levels.
  • Ability to design electrical systems and prepare technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of substation equipment and corrosion/stray current issues.
  • Familiarity with the NYCT Subway system and its components.
