Responsibilities
- Support the Power Engineering group with technical assistance for 230 substations.
- Test substation equipment and represent the Engineering group in departmental meetings.
- Review and approve/disapprove contractor submittals, test reports, and test procedures.
- Propose methods for stray current mitigation and corrosion control.
- Prepare technical specifications for substation equipment, 3rd Rail, and power cables.
- Collaborate as a team player within the engineering group.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of the NYCT Subway system, yards, shops, and transit railcars.
Job Requirements
- Valid New York State Professional Engineer's License.
- Four years of full-time experience in electrical engineering.
- A master's degree in electrical engineering can substitute for one year of experience.
- At least one year of experience as a major contributor or project leader on complex projects for higher assignment levels.
- Ability to design electrical systems and prepare technical specifications.
- Knowledge of substation equipment and corrosion/stray current issues.
- Familiarity with the NYCT Subway system and its components.
