Product Design Mechanical Engineer, Reality Labs

The Product Design Mechanical Engineer at Reality Labs will develop systems for mixed reality (MR), augmented reality (AR), or new technology initiatives, focusing on prototyping and mass production of consumer electronics.

• Architect complex mechanical solutions as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems.
• Work across the full product development cycle, from concept inception to product shipping.
• Leverage external teams to maximize internal resource focus on product value and differentiation.
• Champion engineering quality and establish the design process.
• Travel to external vendors up to 20%.

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• 10+ years of product design and development experience for high-volume manufacturing.
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
• Experience with material properties and high-volume manufacturing techniques.
• Testing and analysis experience (FEA, Simulation, Design of Experiments, etc.).
• Preferred MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience developing multiple novel consumer electronics products from concept to production.
