Responsibilities
- Architect complex mechanical solutions as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems
- Work across the full product development cycle, from concept inception to shipping product
- Leverage external teams (CM/JDM/Vendors) to maximize internal resource focus
- Champion engineering quality and establish the design process
- Travel to external vendors up to 20%
- Provide product and technical feedback on engineering and design work
Job Requirements
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of product design and development experience in handheld/wearable electronics
- Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
- Knowledge of material properties such as plastics, metal, adhesive, and glass
- Testing and analysis experience (FEA, Simulation, Design of Experiments)
- Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing techniques (stamping, machining, injection molding)
- Preferred: MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field
